Gotye nominated for three Grammys

2012-12-06 18:33 by TravisB

Gotye has launched his Australian tour today with a bang as news breaks that he's scooped three Grammy nominations; Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (for Somebody I Used To Know feat. Kimbra), and Best Alternative Music Album (for Making Mirrors). Gotye is the first Australian artist to be nominated for Record of the Year since Olivia Newton-John won the famous statue way back in 1975.

The winners of the Grammys will be announced in Los Angeles on February 11 (Australian time).

Wally says: "I'm not from Western Australia, so a nomination for a WAMI remains a distant dream.  But three Grammy nominations are pretty good too. Truly though, it's an honour to be recognised and nominated amongst so many great musicians."

Celebrations will take place live on stage tonight in Adelaide where Gotye is doing the first of four very special homecoming shows which will be his final live appearances in this most memorable of years.

The visuals for our live performances of What Do You Want? were created by an incredible animator from Australia called Lucinda Schreiber. Created with coloured paper and stop-time animation techniques, it's a beautiful piece, hope you enjoy.

The Basics: Ingredients

2012-12-05 09:55 by TravisB

Some of you may be familiar with the music that Kris Schroeder, Tim Heath and I made as The Basics over the years, but if you're not, we've collected a bunch of songs from our various records together in a groovy little package titled Ingredients. You can download it here, or get it on cd here. Delicious!

Stay tuned for a collection of unreleased songs (newer things we never released, demos, live favourites) called Leftovers which is also out soon digitally and on vinyl.
