With so much wonderful visual work created to accompany Making Mirrors by so many talented directors and animators, I felt it was a shame to have it only viewable on YouTube and Vimeo at what is usually low resolution.
So I've compiled all these film clips and live visuals (plus documentaries about the making of the record) for iTunes and other digital video providers. It's called Video Mirrors and details are below. Download it here.
1. Making Making Mirrors - A Short Documentary
2. Easy Way Out

4. Eyes Wide Open
5. The Making of Eyes Wide Open
6. Smoke And Mirrors (live visuals)
7. Easy Way Out (live visuals)

Gotye & His Collaborators

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image and Melbourne Music Week present Gotye & His Collaborators
As part of Spectacle: The Music Video Exhibition, and in collaboration with Melbourne Music Week, Gotye will come together with some of his collaborators to discuss the creative process behind his music videos for one night only on Monday 18 November 2013 at 5pm.
Gotye is no stranger to creative collaboration. His music videos are a testament to this, utilising the talents of diverse directors, artists and animators. Often involving a range of complex animation and filmmaking techniques, visual worlds are seamlessly set against his music.
This public event will bring Goyte together with a collection of his collaborators to discuss the creative process behind the iconic music videos for hits such as Easy Way Out, State of the Art and the international chart-topping Somebody That I Used to Know. Guests include filmmakers Natasha Pincus, Darcy Prendergast, and directors of Rubber House animation studio Ivan Dixon and Greg Sharp.
Hosted by film and music critic Megan Spencer, this unique event is designed to provide a fascinating insight into the collaborative journey, from initial concept and creative development, through to final clip production.
This event is a feature of the public programs running alongside Spectacle: The Music Video Exhibition, showing exclusively at ACMI from Thursday 26 September 2013 until Sunday 23 February 2014. The most comprehensive exhibition of music video presented to date, Spectacle features over 300 works, from the experimental and the extravagant to the political and the provocative, taking the visitor through a labyrinth of sound and vision.
Spectacle also features the talents of Australian directors, including Darcy Prendergast’s direction of Easy Way Out and never before seen footage of the making of Somebody That I Used to Know, directed by Natasha Pincus.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Thursday 19 September; online at acmi.net.au, at the ACMI Tickets and Information Desk, or on 03 8663 2583.
