Save Me video director, Peter Lowey, wins Spirit Of Youth Award

2013-08-12 11:06 by TravisB

Qantas today announced Peter Lowey as winner of the Animation Category in the 2013 Spirit of Youth Awards, which recognises outstanding young Australian artists.

Lowey is a Melbourne-based animator, director and filmmaker, whose creations are influenced by early 1940-50s Disney animation, and worked on Gotye’s music video Save Me. Watch it again here

Gotye’s Easy Way Out film clip was directed by Animation runner up Darcy Prendergast.

“It’s fantastic to see talented animators Peter Lowey and Darcy Prendergast being recognised by the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards. They are wonderful artists who display great imagination, new ideas and impressive technical mastery in their work,” Gotye said.

Peter Lowey said he was honoured to receive such a prestigious award.

“I spend hours of my personal time conceiving and animating projects with very ambitious goals, this is a dream come true” said Lowey.

Australian touring with The Basics

2013-07-10 13:56 by TravisB

Many of you are well-aware, some may be unfamiliar, but outside of Gotye stuff I play in a band called The Basics with my buddies Kris Schroeder and Tim Heath.

Here's a painting from Tim which will enlighten you as to our relative bearded states:

TheBasics

We just put out a video for our song So Hard For You. It's from a recent compilation called Leftovers:

HardForYou

We're doing a bunch of shows in Australia in September and October. I'm looking forward to flailing about on drumkit and vocals while the lads set the stage on fire (Tim actually did that once…accidentally, and only for a few seconds, but still…there was fire).

The clubs are small to medium size so tickets will go faster than the meat raffle at Nar Nar Goon RSL, get in quick!

Go here for tickets and info.

Cheers dears,

Wally
